Yorkshire and Humber Younger Person's Support Group
The Yorkshire & Humber Younger Person's Support Group is run by a group of volunteers from across the region. We exist to support anyone of working age (under 67) with Parkinson's and their family/friends.
Every year we hold an Information Day and an event to mark World Parkinson's Day. Please see the details for 2025 below.
Walk with me for Parkinson's
We invite you to the 2nd annual 'Walk with me for Parkinson's' event to help us to mark World Parkinson’s Day, raise awareness and support for Parkinson's, enjoy an optional walk, meet others with Parkinson's, and socialise indoors over complimentary drinks and cakes.
Date and time: Saturday 12 April, 1.30pm to 5pm.
Where: Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP), West Bretton, WF4 4LG (near Wakefield).
Book your tickets: Each ticket bought before 7 April is discounted to £6 plus the 45p Trybooking fee (or free for anyone 25 or under). From 7 April, tickets will revert to YSP normal prices. Book your tickets here: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/ELKF
Everyone is welcome: Those with Parkinson's (of any age and from anywhere), your families and friends, anyone who wants to support us, and well behaved dogs on leads. 4 off-road mobility scooters can be reserved from YSP in advance.
**The event will proceed regardless of the weather, as we've got great indoor spaces to sit and socialise if people prefer not to walk, and also access to YSP's indoor sculpture displays.

Social groups
We also encourage and can help with the setting up of informal social groups throughout the region. So far, these run in Hull, Leeds, Rotherham, Sheffield and York. Generally, they meet socially once a month in the evening. They are a casual get together for local younger people with Parkinson's and their family/friends, providing mutual support and a chance to chat with others in a similar situation about anything and everything, not just life with Parkinson's. New members are always welcome.
