Walking Tennis
Walking tennis is a low impact version of tennis with adapted rules and equipment to make the game accessible for all. It uses a smaller court, lighter tennis balls and you are allow 2 bounces. This is great for older players, beginners and individuals with a physical impairment.
This walking tennis session is specifically for people with Parkinson’s. The sessions focus on coordination skills such as catching, throwing, moving towards and hitting a tennis ball. Our coach, Jon, is a fully qualified and insured tennis coach.
All tennis equipment is provided (e.g. racquets, balls, courts etc). Please wear suitable clothing and shoes for exercise such as trainers and leisure wear. You are recommended to bring along a water bottle.
The sessions are free of charge to members of Swindon Parkinson’s Activity Group (SPAG) and membership of SPAG is required for participation. For more information about joining SPAG, visit our website at swindonparkinsons.org.uk or contact our Membership Secretary, Gail, at [email protected].
There are a maximum of 10 spaces per session and any family/carers are more than welcome to join in the session if places are available or watch from the sidelines.
