Singing Group - Parky’s Singers

Do you enjoy a good sing-song? Apart from being good fun, singing has been shown to reduce Parkinson’s symptoms like tremor, and issues with walking and posture. This is because it helps to relax muscles and release tension in the back and neck.

Singing can also help to reduce anxiety and low mood by lowering stress hormones and increases the brain’s ‘feel-good’ chemical (endorphins).

If you’d like to try a singing group, Parky’s Singers meet on the first and third Mondays of the month at Des Moffatt Western Community Centre. No previous experience of singing is required. We sing songs everyone knows and everyone is welcome. Refreshments are served after the singing session.

The sessions are free of charge to members of Swindon Parkinson’s Activity Group (SPAG) and membership of SPAG is required for participation. For more information about joining SPAG, visit our website at swindonparkinsons.org.uk or contact our Membership Secretary, Gail, at [email protected]
