Kensington and Chelsea Support Group

Kensington & Chelsea Parkinson’s Support Group (K&C SG):  In 2009 John Amphlet was invited by Parkinson's UK to re-invigorate its dormant K&C Support Group for People with Parkinson’s (PwP’s) and their families in the area. Becoming K&C SG's Chairman in 2011, John introduced a wide range of innovative and highly beneficial activities, achieving national recognition for doing so.  As a result we have grown to support many hundreds of PwPs and their families across much of London in their ongoing life journey with Parkinson’s.

Who are we: We, at Kensington & Chelsea Parkinson’s Support Group (K&C SG), are a friendly and welcoming charity Support Group run by Volunteers and are dependent on donations and funding to enable us to do what we do in support of PwP’s and their families/carers.

The Committee is made up of Barbara Linton, Ginny Myer, Alan Prest, Ray Casimir and Kieran Starr, all of whom are, or were, partners of PwP’s.

What do we do: We provide the facilities and opportunities for PwP’s and their families/carers to be informed on Parkinson’s matters, to receive factual information, to be supported, to engage (socially, in-person and online) with other like-positioned people (ie PwP’s, Carers), to facilitate Q&A’s with Medical Professionals, to have informative personal and professional briefings, to exercise in a safe and suitable space, to enjoy relaxed outings in wonderful locations and to generally enable people with Parkinson’s to live better.

To find out more and to become a Member: We provide and facilitate a large schedule of events and activities that are proven to support PwP’s and their families in our journey. These include tailored Tai Chi, NeuroPhysio, Online Seated Pilates, Pole Walking, Socials, Kew Gardens guided and “Free to Roam” visits, Carers Meets and Walks/Talks, PwP Meets as well as Singing, Walking Football, Dance sessions and much more to suit all abilities.
