Wendy’s Nordic Walking
Nordic walking is simply a way of walking using a specific type of pole which is adjusted for you. It helps with breathing, co-ordination and balance and can be done by anybody no matter what their level of fitness. It’s a very social activity as well and can be done anywhere in the world.
You just need to wear clothes that are suitable for the weather and sturdy shoes that have some flexibility and do not slip if the surface is a little damp, good walking shoes are fine. Always have a water bottle with you and a cap or hat if it is sunny.
You can bring a friend or a carer to walk alongside you, they won’t have poles but will still be able to talk to you and support you if you need this.
I like to keep my numbers to maximum of 5 in a class so I can see what everybody is doing and ensure technique is followed as best it can be.
The easiest place to park is at the Stoke Park Leisure Centre, the parking is free for 3 hours and there are all the facilities you need including a coffee shop.
Booking is required to avoid excess number and people just arriving unannounced.
The cost is £10 per class up to 60+ minutes and £12 if you need to borrow walking poles.
