Val Rowley Lecture
People affected by Parkinson’s are invited to the Val Rowley Lecture, a free information event at Skipton Town Hall on Thursday 20 November.
There will be several speakers at this year’s event, on topics related to Parkinson’s:
• Fiona Day, Membership Development Manager at Parkinson’s UK. She will provide an updated on the benefits of Parkinson’s UK membership.
• Eat, Move, Be Happy. Anna and Cerin will speak about the benefits of exercise for people with Parkinson’s and there will be a demonstration too.
• Healthwatch North Yorkshire. They work with local organisations and charities to give feedback to the NHS and North Yorkshire Council in order to improve care.
This annual lecture is in memory of Val Rowley, who was instrumental in setting up what is now the Skipton and District Parkinson’s Support Group in 1993 and was a dedicated supporter throughout her life.
Admission is free, although donations are welcome. This event will give people living with Parkinson’s and their loved ones a chance to learn more about Parkinson’s, chat with others affected by the condition and discover more about local support and activities. Free refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits) will be available.
