Tennis club
Walking tennis is a low impact version of tennis with adapted rules and equipment to make the game accessible for all.
We use a smaller court, lighter tennis balls and allow 2 bounces. This is great for older players, beginners and individuals with a physical impairment.
This walking tennis session is catered to people with Parkinson’s. It focuses on coordination skills such as catching, throwing, moving towards and hitting a tennis ball.
Our coach Andy is a fully qualified and insured tennis coach who has been playing tennis for 20 years and coaching for 8 years. He also has a background in sport and exercise science.
We often stay for a coffee after coaching and have a catch up in the clubhouse. The environment at Saltford is very friendly with our focus on delivering enjoyable tennis sessions that improve your wellbeing. Any family/carers are more than welcome to join in the session or watch from the sideline.
We provide all tennis equipment (e.g. racquets, balls, courts etc). Please wear suitable clothing and shoes for exercise such as trainers and leisure wear. You may also want to bring a water bottle.
The tennis courts can be found amongst some houses by the Saltford hall. There are plenty of parking spaces during the mornings.
We offer a pay as you go option for our walking tennis lessons. We ask for £5 contribution per lesson which can be paid by card on our card reader. New players are also offered a free trail for their first session.
Please note sessions run during term-time only.
