Speech Therapy and Singing Class

Two separate classes paired together.

Firstly, from 11.45am to 12.15pm is the speech therapy run by Marion, our voice therapist. She puts us through a fun and entertaining way of keeping our voices strong and clear.

Then, you are also welcome to join us for part two, the singing class, at 12.30pm, or go if you want to

The singing is run by the fun and experienced “Singing Sisters”, based purely around fun and enjoyment. None of us are singers, we’re just a group who like to exercise our voices to help fight Parkinson’s whilst having great fun in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

The words are shown on a screen and everyone is welcome to this free class. No talent is needed, just an appetite for fun and it’s advisable to bring a drink along with you. We sing a very wide range of popular songs from the 50s to the modern day that are usually instantly recognisable, and we have a short music related/topical quiz to break the singing and keep the grey cells ticking over.

Both of these once-a-month hour-long sessions are on the first Friday of the month, at 11.45am for the speech therapy and 12.30pm for the singing class, both in the Beacon Room at St Mary’s Church, Ferndown. Numbers are limited to about 25 on these popular classes, so ring ahead to check if there’s space.
