Polzeath Surf Sessions

Following a successful pilot last year, we are delighted to be partnering with George’s Surf School at Polzeath Beach to offer a series of sessions this summer.

These sessions have been co-created with the Parkinson’s community and local nurses and physios. Sessions are led by experienced, qualified coaches with the support of volunteers. No prior surfing experience is required! We recommend that you are able to get off the floor (with or without support) and feel comfortable in knee-high water. The goal is to create a safe, supportive environment for you to enjoy the ocean and sensation of riding along waves, whether that’s lying down, on your knees or maybe standing up.

Partners, family and carers are very welcome to join us on the beach and for a cuppa afterwards at the Tubestation.

You will need to wear a wetsuit and boots to keep warm. We suggest bringing warm, easy-to-dress clothes to change into afterwards. If it's sunny please wear suncream. If it's windy or chilly you might want to bring a wooly hat and changing robe / loose coat for walking to and from the sea. Water bottles and medication can be kept safely on the beach if needed during the session.
