Parky Padel
A Padel session for active people with Parkinson's.
Padel is a doubles racket sport played on an enclosed court, about a third the size of a tennis court. The walls are part of the game, so a ball that has bounced on the court can rebound and stay in play.
Sometimes called padel tennis, the sport shares elements with both tennis and squash. You serve underarm and use tennis scoring, but the smaller court and wall rebounds make for a very different game. The basics are easy to pick up, but there's much more to it once the rallies get faster. That accessibility has helped turn padel into one of the world's fastest-growing racket sports.
The sessions are alternate weeks so please check before turning up.
I've had Parkinson's for nearly 7 years and have just started a little group for just people with Parkinson's to play padel tennis. Because we all have Parkinson's it doesn't feel uncomfortable or competitive. We have the court for an hour and a half, taking turns to play and we split the cost between us.
