Parkinson’s Walking Football
An hour class run by trained physiotherapists for those with decent movement, concentrating on all of the necessary requirements needed to help you fight Parkinson’s – Core stability, flexibility, strength and fitness, all within a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
A trip to the café afterwards is a must, building the team spirit which is so important in fighting Parkinson’s.
Run by Mark who is qualified to run coaching sessions by the Walking Football Association
Cost of sessions are £5 subsided by the East Dorset Branch
The sessions usually take the form of a warm up (with some ball drills) for roughly 15-20 minutes, a game after we split the players into teams, followed by the obligatory warm down.
Warm ups and drills change regularly so there is always something for everyone. When exercise is fun, it’s never a chore and you can put as much or as little in as you want but he more the better.
Just bring a drink to keep you hydrated and loose clothing with trainers or preferably boots designed for astroturf/3g pitches.
Participants should be able to demonstrate fair to good motor skills and a reasonable sense of balance and stability.
