Parkinson's Walking Football
This Parkinson’s Football session is a friendly, inclusive football activity designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s.
It takes place on the 3G pitch at Portishead Football Club and offers a supportive, relaxed environment for participants to stay active, socialise, and enjoy the game at their own pace.
For anyone who hasn’t attended before, you can expect a welcoming group, plenty of encouragement, and a focus on enjoyment rather than competition.
Sessions typically include a structured warm-up, simple football-based drills, and small-sided games, all adapted to suit the needs of people with Parkinson’s. There is also time before and after the session to chat and connect with others who understand the condition.
The session is hosted at Portishead Football Club and led by experienced coaches who understand Parkinson’s and how symptoms can affect movement, balance, and energy levels. The coaches create a safe, supportive atmosphere and are happy to adapt activities to individual needs on the day. Regular participation can help with reaction time, posture, and maintaining independence.
- Open to all ability levels. No previous football experience is required. Participants can take part at a
level that feels comfortable for them, including walking football-style play if needed. - Partners, carers, and family members are very welcome to attend. They can either join in the session (if appropriate) or stay
