Parkinson's Steppers
Join Harmony in Motion to explore the joy of moving and listening differently using groundbreaking wearable technology that makes sounds as we move.
Bespoke sessions for people living with Parkinson's, with a loved one and/or carer welcome to join.
This 6-week block of sessions offers an opportunity to be active, meet new people, foster community, and create new relationships between movement and sound. These sessions form a pilot project and as such your feedback will be welcomed throughout the process. Sessions are designed to include an hour of moving, followed by 30 mins for drinks and a natter.
Harmony in Motion are an artist-led organisation bringing movement, sound, art and care into the same room. We create safe, innovative, and inspiring spaces where people with Parkinson's and their loved ones and/or carers can connect with themselves and each other through moving and listening.
Further Information
Sessions will be co-delivered by two experienced movement/dance instructors with over two decades of delivery experience. Dr Louise McDowall and Rosemary Spencer are certified Dance for Parkinson’s instructors and have completed the Parkinson’s UK physical activity and exercise course. Alongside this they hold additional qualifications in Dance, Meditation, Movement Research and more.
Sessions will get you active and include a focus on mobility, balance and strength. After dancing and making new sounds (using the wearable tech), we will also have time for socialising; with dedicated time for a drink and a natter.
