Parkinson’s Nordic Walking at Colwick Lake
Parkinson’s Nordic Walking is a group physical activity, outdoors, using sporty Nordic poles that are free to borrow. Think Nordic skiing without snow! This Nordic walking group is tailored for people with Parkinson’s and focuses on improved gait, balance, posture and overall fitness by engaging the upper body and core. Nordic walking can help to improve arm swing and stride length, and it provides a sociable group activity that can boost motivation and mood. The price for Nordic Walking is £3 per session (first session free.)
The group is hosted by Sarah McCracken, an experienced Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist who is also a British Nordic
Walking Instructor.
Set at Colwick Lake, we are also offering an optional swim and sauna after the Nordic walking class. The price for swim and sauna is £10 (first session is free with voucher.) Colwick swim village, Whole Health, is run by experienced lifeguards who have experience of working with people with Parkinson’s. Open water swimming is growing in popularity and offers wellbeing benefits, when combined with a therapeutic sauna. We will have access to a warm yurt for coffee and cake after the classes.
