Parkinsons & Mobility Group
Since its’ inception in July 2024, our mobility sessions on Wednesday afternoons is now firmly established as a regular weekly event.
Walking Football is fine for the ‘older generation’ who are ‘fit for their age’ but we are taking it a stage further by running sessions for those less able. This includes people with Parkinsons, MS, recovering from heart attacks or stroke, or limb injuries. That list is not exhaustive and includes our existing players who use the sessions as a way of coming back from injury.
Sessions are on Wednesdays, meeting at 2.15 pm at Fleming Park/Places Leisure in Passfield Avenue. Eastleigh. Ask at reception and they’ll direct you to where we meet.
During the summer months we play outside on the 3G pitch and during the winter months we play indoors at Places Leisure.
Sessions start with a warm up, followed by walking football and finally, tea/coffee and biscuits in the leisure centre, to wind down.
All you need is some sports kit, shoes suitable for 4G surface and shinpads for protection. We supply coloured bibs and we have loads of footballs.
Your first 2 sessions are free, to see how you like it. After that £2 per session, which helps cover the cost of pitch hire and refreshments.
Carers/other halves are welcome and can join in if they want to.
Contact Fiona Wingent, who manages the session on the link below or come along on a Wednesday afternoon, either to join in, or take a look.
