Parkinson's Combat - Coventry
Fun-filled and stress-relieving, these non-contact boxing and kickboxing classes incorporate mobility, co-ordination strength, flexibility and balance work. No previous experience necessary! A great chance to try something new, or return to an old hobby.
Who can take part?
Our classes are designed for those living with Parkinson’s with mild to moderate symptoms. We cater for all fitness levels but participants must be safely and independently mobile. A pre-class screening must be completed before your first Bigger & Better class. A comprehensive face-to-face assessment and introduction session with one of our therapists is recommended but not essential.
Who runs the class?
Classes are run by experienced exercise coaches or therapists, and the coaches and participants are supported by a Parkinson’s specialist occupational therapist. Your coaches and therapists are there to help you to maximise the benefits of your exercise, and help you to use exercise to improve your day to day functioning and well-being.
How much does it cost?
£5 per session - pay as you go.
Plus a £60 per year (or 2 x £30 6 monthly) membership fee. This is payable in March each year or pro rata if joining throughout the year. Subsidies for the membership fee are available for those who require financial support.
What should I bring and wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear. We recommend bringing a bottle of water.
Boxing gloves are available to borrow, but many chose to buy their own.
Please note that shoes are not permitted in the exercise arena at our Coventry venue. It is advised that you wear shoes that are easy to take on and off, and wear socks with grips if you prefer not to go bare footed.
