Parkinson's Boxing, Stirling
What is the activity?
Our boxing class entails warm-ups designed to improve balance, posture, joint mobilization and slowly raise
your heart rate so we can move up through the gears slowly but surely.
We move into our boxing portion of the session where we get the gloves on and build your strength, power, and co-ordination. Our boxing sessions help to increase confidence in your voice too! - and you can take every bit of frustration out on the punch bags so you leave feeling less stressed and happier! Our class finishes with a cool down and a 15-30-minutes social side where you can chat about politics, Parkinson’s, football or anything else that is on your mind!
All abilities/fitness levels are welcome. We currently have members of our class anywhere from early diagnosis stage up to 6 years after diagnosis. Carers/partners are welcome. Water/comfortable training clothes and trainers are appropriate.
Who is leading it and what else might someone need to know?
Our instructor, Craig, is a former professional footballer, experienced personal trainer, and boxing coach with a special interest in working with Parkinson’s. Craig aims to uplift and nurture everyone in the class so you can build a new body and new mindset. The gym that hosts the boxing session offers a free membership for members of the class so Craig can help with confidence in a gym environment and improving strength levels through using equipment you can use in the gym and at home. On-site parking available, 2 minutes from public transport. Private boxing arena. Bathrooms available.
No restrictions on numbers but if the class gets too busy we will split into two class times. £6 pers session.
