Online Parkinson's Music Therapy Group
Our Online Parkinson's Music Therapy Group is a weekly online group for people living with Parkinson's, led by a qualified Neurologic Music Therapist. Sessions last around 50 minutes and use music, rhythm, singing and gentle movement to support movement, coordination, voice, speech, breathing, wellbeing and social connection. Activities are adapted to each person's abilities and home environment, so people can take part at their own level.
Sessions may include gentle stretching and movement, breathing and vocal exercises, rhythm-based activities, singing and relaxation. No musical experience is needed and participants do not need to have any instruments at home; body percussion and everyday surfaces can be used as part of the session.
The group is kept small, with around 8 to 10 participants, so that everyone can be properly supported. Advanced booking is required. Before joining, participants complete a short referral form which is reviewed to make sure the group is suitable and safe for them. Sessions are £15 on a pay-as-you-go basis, with a discounted block-booking option also available.
As the group is online, participants can join from home from anywhere with an internet connection. For more information and details of how to join, visit: https://www.chilternmusictherapy.co.uk/community-groups/online-parkinsons-group
This group has been developed in partnership with Parkinson's UK.
