Nordic Walking
- This Nordic walking group is open to all abilities, offering a fun way to exercise and meet new people!
- Trish is an experienced instructor and Occupational Therapist with many years of experience of helping people living with Parkinson's and exercise.
- Nordic Walking is a valuable exercise tool for people with Parkinson’s because of:
-The focus on the correct gait technique.
-The repetitive movements
-Exposure to outdoor environments to build confidence.
-Cardiovascular and general fitness benefits.
-Increased stability from the use of two poles on the ground.
-Challenging coordination to help build multitasking abilities.
-Improvement in upper limb strength as well as lower limb strength.
- Improves mental health and wellbeing
-Weight bearing exercise improving bone density.
-The social interaction … and it is FUN!
- Please wear sensible, non-slip shoes suitable for walking, and clothing appropriate for the day’s weather conditions. Please bring a water bottle.
- All equipment is provided.
- Partners or carers are welcome to join the session. If they are actively taking part, the standard session fee will apply.
- Please contact Trish prior to joining, to book your space as limited spaces are available.
