Neuro Fitness
- One hour Physical activity session
- Small group classes (maximum 8 participants) led by Carol Miller, fully qualified and experienced Neurological Exercise Practitioner
- Individuals must come and observe the class first, in order for instructor to assess suitability for classes. Once this is discussed and agreed, the first class is free of charge (FOC) to give an individual a feel of what to expect.
- The cost is £12.50 per session invoiced every four weeks with payment up front by BACS or cash. Unfortunately, I do not offer refunds or credits, if you can not attend a session. However, you may join another class within a reasonable time scale if there is a space.
- Spouses/carers are welcome to support individuals who may need a little assistance with balance and instruction. There is no charge for this.
- Please wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict mobility as well as a decent pair of shoes, ideally trainers. Please also bring a bottle of water.
- These classes are aimed to equip individuals with the skills and ability to perform active daily living tasks by working on improving and maintaining:
Confidence – eg, getting down to the floor and back up to standing without any additional support.
Strength – through using weights and/or resistance bands as well as body weight exercises to promote strong legs, core (trunk of the body) and improved posture.
Balance and reaction – Exercise drills and games to challenge balance eg stand on one leg and throw and catch a ball.
Gait – improve walking through specific drills to promote heel striking, avoiding catching the feet and tripping up.
Co-ordination and dual tasking - using asymmetrical exercise techniques eg side stepping while throwing and catching a ball.
Stretching – To promote improved flexibility of muscle and joints. By pressing against a wall with the hands, participants have found they are able to stretch further due to their balance being supported with the wall.
Due to different ranges of ability, instructor will assist participants by adapting exercises to suit an individual’s needs. - Parking is available on site within the Ringrose car park as well as the public car park adjacent to this. The maximum stay for each car park is 2 hours.
- There are also local cafes for those who would like to go for a cuppa and a chat with other class members.
