Love to Move

Love to Move is the UK’s biggest age and dementia-friendly seated exercise programme, designed specifically for older adults, including those living with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, or cognitive impairments. It focuses on improving physical, cognitive, and emotional wellbeing while fostering social connection and enjoyment.

It uses seated, bilateral asymmetrical movements (doing different things with each side of the body) to boost cognitive function, physical health, and emotional wellbeing for older adults.

The exercises were carefully designed and tested over a two-year period and co-created with people living in both Care Home and Community settings. Love to Move’s bilaterally asymmetrical movement patterns throughout the session are the exercises which stimulate the pathways between neurons in the brain and are what help people with memory and other brain functionality. Many Love to Move participants have re-gained skills and everyday living functions that they previously thought lost through dementia.

This class is led by a fully qualified British Gymnastics Foundation Love to Move coach and fully qualified assistants.
