Halifax Conductive Education
Conductive education is a rehabilitation system. As the name suggests, its approach is educational rather than therapeutic. It aims to teach adults and children with neurological conditions that affect movement, like Parkinson’s, how to overcome everyday problems
Our conductive education sessions run once a month, usually on the second Monday, and are each two hours long.
The 2024 programme will be starting on Monday 9th September with sessions at 10:15, 12:15 and 14:15.
Booking is essential. Please contact Phil for more information and to secure your place.
More information:
Conductive Education began in 1945 when Dr Andras Peto opened The Peto Institute, located in Budapest, Hungary. Initially to help children who had cerebral palsy, and could not control their bodies properly, it allowed them to lead more independent lives by means of Conductive Education. Conductive Education has now been adapted to suit people living with Parkinson's and other neurological problems, such as strokes. We are fortunate to have a very good "conductor" who understands all things related to Parkinson's and due to having a maximum of 6 people with Parkinson's in each group she can adapt the sessions to suit people's individual needs.
Our conductor, Eszter Nagy, graduated from the International Peto Institute in Hungary in 2013 and is based in the North-East.
