Functional Fitness - Warwick
These classes combine functional-based exercises with resistance and cardio training for a well-rounded workout, with the aim of making you fitter and stronger in your everyday life. Co-ordination, strength, endurance and dual tasking will all be worked on - improving your overall fitness, wellbeing and functional abilities.
Who can take part?
Our classes are designed for those living with Parkinson’s with mild to moderate symptoms. We cater for all fitness levels but participants must be safely and independently mobile. A pre-class screening must be completed before your first Bigger & Better class to ensure suitability. A comprehensive face-to-face assessment and introduction session with one of our therapists is recommended but not essential.
Who runs the class?
Classes are run by experienced exercise coaches or therapists, and the coaches and participants are supported by a Parkinson’s specialist occupational therapist. Your coaches and therapists are there to help you to maximise the benefits of your exercise, and help you to use exercise to improve your day to day functioning and well-being.
How much does it cost?
£5 per session - pay as you go.
Plus a £60 per year (or 2 x £30 6 monthly) membership fee. This is payable in March each year or pro rata if joining throughout the year. Subsidies for the membership fee are available for those who require financial support.
What should I bring and wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear. We recommend bringing a bottle of water.
