Exercise class for Parkinson's

The class will last for an hour and will be directed to the levels of the abilities in the class. All exercises will be directed to the appropriate levels of the class members.

The class will consist of a warm up period at the beginning and cool down period at the end. In the middle section it will focus on mobility, strength, co-ordination, balance and there will also be some cardiovascular work based on who is in the class. There will be plenty of time for breaks and rests whenever needed.

The class is led by Jen Gabrysch who is a qualified level 3 Personal Trainer, and APPI Trained Pilates Instructor. Jen has 18 years experience as a Personal Trainer and has led senior classes for 15 years. Jen currently works with people who have Parkinson’s, as well as people post Stroke diagnosis and other neurological conditions. Jen is also currently undertaking further training specifically in exercises for Parkinson’s.

Jen is happy to work with most levels of diagnosis and with carers and partners too and is happy to have a chat with anyone who would like to come to class before hand to check suitability.

For those attending class including carers and partners please wear loose clothing and gym shoes with a grip and please bring a bottle of water and a small towel.

The class will take place weekly in blocks of 5. The class is currently limited to 10 participants but this could be changed over time.
