Dance for Parkinson's Scotland - Alva
Dance for Parkinson’s Scotland classes, feature elements of ballet and contemporary dance.
Using the themes and movement from Scottish Ballet productions, specially trained Dance Artists leading participants to develop movement skills with particular focus on the fluidity of movement, balance, coordination, expression, posture, and rhythm. The classes also include activities focused on problem-solving, improvisation, vocal skills, repetition from memory, and multi-tasking, which are all key areas for people with Parkinson's.
Face-to-face classes feature live music accompaniment, with time for participants to socialise afterwards with tea and coffee.
Classes are on Wednesdays 10.30am, and are followed by a social cafe, at the Cochrane Hall, Alva.
These sessions are suitable for those people with no dance experience and will develop a participant's confidence and creativity, whilst addressing Parkinson's specific concerns such as; balance, flexibility, coordination, gait and social isolation.
The sessions include tea/coffee, biscuits and a blether!
Choose to pay £8 at each session, or buy a block of 10 for £70.
