Dance for Parkinson’s, Moray
Dance for Parkinson’s, Moray, is a specialised dance class for people living with Parkinson’s to enjoy. It’s fun, friendly and welcoming. No previous dance experience is needed! We are part of a network of Dance for Parkinson’s classes across Scotland.
Classes are carefully structured to gently warm up and prepare the body for moving. We always begin seated and offer seated options throughout. After class we enjoy a cup of tea and a chat together, sharing friendship and support.
Classes are delivered by trained teaching artists – usually 2 dance artists will co-teach each session. A professional musician accompanies classes with live music every few weeks. The class is accessible to all levels, as we offer different ways to take part. Movement activity focuses on themes and ideas, such as working with props or using a poem or song for stimulus. We work on overall mobility and on specific exercises for different areas of the body, for example feet or upper body. Over a number of weeks, we develop sequences and choreography together.
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in and non-slip shoes, such as light trainers.
Refreshments are provided but you may like to bring a water bottle.
