Dance and Sing for Parkinson's - Killearn
Our unique Dance and Sing for Parkinson's Group, which is affiliated to the award-winning Dance for PD® programme and to Sing to Beat Parkinson’s, offers group sessions which specifically support those living with Parkinson’s and related neurological conditions.
Research shows that participation in dance and music activities promotes good mobility and overall health and wellbeing for people with a range of neurological conditions.
No prior dance or music experience is required. Seated or standing, participants explore a range of dance and movement styles to strengthen balance and flexibility, guided by a varied choice of music designed to inspire, to raise confidence and to bring joy. The singing section focuses on breath and voice work, unison singing, rounds and part singing and well-known songs selected by the group.
Currently we offer weekly in-person classes in Killearn for people from the surrounding area. Each session is followed by a social café, enabling everyone to feel part of a supportive community. These classes are in part supported by the Dance and Sing for Parkinson’s Scotland Charity SC 053743.
Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear, and bring a bottle of water.
Cost is £8 per session and spouse/carers go free!
