Counselling for Parkinson's carers
Kendal and District Parkinson’s Support Group offers support for partners of those living with Parkinson's.
If you are finding life difficult as a Carer, why not have a confidential chat with a professional counsellor. To discover how counselling might support you, a free half- hour telephone conversation is available. Please contact the therapist, Peter Raven, direct on 07900 337011 or email: [email protected]. Follow up consultations are being offered by the Kendal and District Parkinson’s Support Group at a subsidised rate of £10 per session. Offer open to all with partners living with Parkinson’s.
These sessions are confidential. The applicant is allowed a free 30 minutes consultation with the Psychotherapist before consenting to proceed with further sessions to a maximum of 6 sessions. Names of those participating will remain confidential.
Sessions can be undertaken at consultation room in Kendal or Kirkby Lonsdale or by telephone or through zoom.
Peter Raven is a locally based psychotherapist/counsellor accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) with considerable experience in this field. Aside from his clinical expertise, he is also a Trustee of Carer Support South Lakes, where he has a watching brief on the provision of the charity’s wellbeing services, including counselling. Further information about his work can be accessed through his website.
The six sessions of one-to-one counselling - be they ‘face to face’, online or over the telephone - will offer opportunities for Carers supporting those with Parkinson’s to explore their personal circumstances and, hopefully, to open up alternative perspectives and new avenues of understanding. In all cases, the goal of the talking therapy is to make a positive impact on the carer’s ongoing responsibilities and to enhance their personal wellbeing.
