Chair Yoga, Bedlington
1 hour chair yoga class at East Bedlington Community Centre, Mondays from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
This is a friendly and informal class and welcomes people with Parkinson’s. Sessions include simple breathing exercises at the start, followed by some movements to gently warm up the body, before a series of chair yoga poses to help build strength, mobility and balance. Each session ends with relaxation/meditation.
Sessions are suitable and adapted to meet the needs of people with physical and mobility impairments including Parkinson’s. A variety of options will be provided with the opportunity for each participant to choose what works best for them at each session, depending on how they are moving and feeling that day.
The sessions will focus on creating personal body awareness through movement, breathing and relaxation. People with Parkinson’s will benefit from the focus on good posture, building strength, mobility, balance, flexibility and nurturing a feeling of relaxation and rest.
To attend the class I would recommend wearing loose and comfortable clothing with some layers you can add for comfort and warmth, such as a jumper if required. All other equipment will be provided.
Each class costs £5.
