Chair Based Exercise Group
A small group session of 5 to 6 individuals set up for those who find it hard to exercise on their own and have more profound symptoms from Parkinson's.
The sessions are led by Sarah Dixon, who has a wealth of knowledge in neuro physiotherapy, able to identify
individual needs, and adapt the exercises and the environment as necessary to provide an engaging and fun
session.
The exercises are done seated and work on a combination of dynamic exercises including:
- Strength training - using exercise bands and/or weights, set up to suit the individual
- Flexibility - combining range of movement in multiple plains
- Coordination – practice sequences of movements and challenges to automatic responses
- Endurance - repetitive actions with time limits
Each week you can if you wish take home and practice an element of the session Sarah will advise on.
The environment is accessible for those using walking aids and wheelchairs, with onsite parking.
Carers or partners can retreat and have a coffee and chat in the comfortable garden pod waiting area or in nice
weather the surrounding garden.
If you would like more information please contact Sarah Dixon who will be able to chat and discuss if the group
would work for you.
For 6 sessions – personal contribution of £39/person if a member of Aylesbury Branch.
