Bumper World Parkinson's Day Awareness Event
Please join the Parkinson’s UK Sutton, Kingston, Epsom and Merton Branch, Parkinson’s UK and Councillors and Officers of the London Borough of Sutton for our Bumper World Parkinson's Day awareness event. Taking place on Saturday 11 April, between 10am to 2pm at the public library at Sutton Civic Centre.
This FREE event aims to raise awareness of Parkinson's and World Parkinson's Day to the general public, not only in Sutton, but hopefully beyond. People with Parkinson's, friends, family, partners and carers are all welcome to join us
Guests, speakers and display stalls
At the event, you'll get the opportunity to meet and hear from:
- Rory Cellan-Jones, from the Movers and Shakers podcast
- Parkinson’s UK directors and support staff
- Members of the Parkinson’s UK Sutton, Kingston, Epsom and Merton Branch
- Health and Wellbeing local charity/community information stands
- Parkinson's UK stands, Research, Campaigns, Volunteering and more
- Several Councillors, Officers and the Leader and Deputy Leader of the London Borough of Sutton Council (please note this is a non-political event)
- Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Louise Phelan, and the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Cumar Sahathevan will also be in attendance
Demonstrations and entertainment
There’ll be live demonstrations and entertainment, including:
- Tai Chi from the Chi Clinic in Banstead
- LEGS (Local Exercise Groups for Stroke and Neuro Conditions) exercise group
- Sing Out Sutton Choir
- Live musicians, led by a member of the Branch, Dave Lambert
- Friends from the Hospital Radio St Helier, to PA the live microphone event
Food and drink
There’ll be a comfortable area to enjoy free tea, coffee and biscuits.
