Bring Me Sunshine: Specialist dance and somatic movement classes for people living with Parkinson’s and Lewy- Body Dementia

  • Embodied and relational dance and movement sessions delivered by a team of highly experienced dance and movement artists including Daphne Cushnie (Senior Neurological Physiotherapist and dance artist) Dr Mel Brierley an (specialist dance and health practitioner, somatic movement educator and coach), Penny Collinson (somatic movement educator/therapist), Lucy Nicholson (somatic communication and wellbeing coach). 2 practitioners in each weekly session plus volunteers.
    Inclusive and suitable for all levels through chair-based, standing, and travelling practice.
  • Classes promote:
    1) Teacher-led and improvised movement for greater stamina, strength, balance, coordination, and proprioceptive awareness.
    2) Improved cognitive switching, planning and execution of movement. Working with movement visualisations, creativity, and the imagination.
    3) Focus on caring for self and others.
  • Family, friends, and other caregivers are welcome.
  • Please wear loose clothing and bring a water bottle.
