Boxing - Specific to Parkinson’s
- A fun and friendly physical activity session based on boxing training.
- Led by an England Boxing Coach (Governing Body of amateur boxing in England and part of Sport England), all coaches have in date first aid certificate, safeguarding certificate and enhanced DBS checks. On top of this the coaches have taken part in a specific coaching qualification to coach people living with Parkinson’s.
- The class is open to anyone living with Parkinson's and we invite partners to stay and watch or take part if they wish.
- During the class we will start with some warm up games, then coach some boxing techniques, do some work on the boxing punch bags and punch pads, finish with a few more fun games and cool down and stretch. All our activities are aimed at increasing dopamine and involves cognitive activities to help challenge brain function and improve balance and co-ordination.
- After the session has finished (1 hour) we all sit down for a cup of tea / coffee with some biscuits and cake to have a chat and catch up. It’s a great opportunity to socialise and meet others in a similar position.
- The group is very laid back and based on physical activity whilst having fun. No matter what people’s level of fitness is we can cater for them.
- The class is run by Steve Bryant, level 3 England Boxing Coach, International qualified England National Coach, Level personal trainer and sports therapist
- All participants are covered under England Boxing insurance whilst on Trowbridge ABC premises and taking part in the class
